About Me.

This will be hilarious, your going to let an idiot talk about himself. I was born on a dark and stormy night…

Born in Northern Ireland, in the late sixtys. My parents moved the whole family to Australia when I was eight, three sisters and a brother, myself being the youngest.

I’ve been married, raised two step-daughters, the best I could. Another daughter, shared between myself and the ex-wife, has recently moved out of home( to do her own thing). The two eldest daughters, have provided me with five grandchildren between them.

I’ve always wanted to dig for gold…what kid has not dreamed of pirate treasure, or a lost gold mine full of treasures to find. Ah… the adventure, the fun, exploring new and exciting places. Meeting those characters that we all know exist, but may avoid, if we saw them at the mall. Camping another great thing to get into, we may not all be cut out for it, but we don’t have to go totally back to nature, a few luxuries are fine( don’t forget the toilet paper).

I’ve now started to get involved with a prospecting club in Queensland. I’m surprised at how shut off they are, very few members seem to be interested in helping out other members, teaching panning skills, or pointing in the right direction to find gold. I’ve already taken two members out on trips fossicking. Better make that 22 members, and more every weekend, but I like the company. Quite a few of them are as crazy as me, I like that, makes me feel sane.

I’ve dribbled on for a while now, back to business. I fish, I take pictures, movies, TV, I read a lot, etc. etc.

In case you haven’t noticed, I camp a lot, and occasionally go gold mining.

I love writing on this thing… I’m hooked!

EVERYBODY SHOULD HAVE A BLOG….. it should be mandatory!!!

Thank you for listening.

Hey mate my name is Luke… I just read your post about old Gold Mines. Specifically the Talc-Asbestos Mine in Dayboro. I drove out there on the weekend… and the entire site if fenced off… so I was wondering, did you ever go out there yourself? and if so, how did you get permission to search there? (did you just knock on someones door and ask)… I would love to prospect that site… but don’t know how to gain access!! 🙂

    • Luke, as soon as I seen “asbestos” in the name…. I had a look on Google to find out how that stuff is formed. It’s naturally occurring, as fibers in the ground.

So I didn’t bother trying to gain entry to the site.

There are other places you can go to dig gold, within a few hours drive of Brisbane. Prophet is the easiest to get to.
