Running the Sluice.

On the weekend a group of prospectors, worked a creek, was gold found. Of course. Was much said about it later… strangely no. All hush, hush. Big finds, keep everybody quite. Don’t want to come back, and find someone else in your spot.

I started the day digging on one side of the creek, dug all the way to the bedrock, nothing. Not one tiny piece of gold. Mid morning arrives, the other prospectors are finding gold, but not me. Happens sometimes.

The question is, do you stop digging where you are, or keep going. The answer is, you inform everyone within ear shot, that there is no gold in that hole. That way you can come back to it later, without worrying about some one else going to it. After completing the former sentence, loudly and often, I changed sides of the creek.

Gold in rubber mat.

Immediate success. That’s all that was wrong, I turned left, instead of right. I’ll pay more attention next time. Best thing to do is enjoy yourself. In the country, good friends, good times, good gold.

Something to take home.

Sorry about the shaky photo, best out of twelve pictures.

About ivoradventures

Lives Brisbane north. Age 47. Male. Interests-heaps of stuff. Camping, fishing, and gold panning, keeps me quite busy. I still find time to cook, and spend time family and friends. I truly enjoy my daughters company(Shannon), but don't see enough of her since she moved out. There is a certain type of beauty that exists only in the wild places, and it calls to you. Go and explore! And drag someone with you.

I’m in the mountains this weekend, so I might get the young bloke to do some panning!

  2. The old timers only got a part of it, good luck.
